Back-to-basics in ERP HR implementations
For more than thirty years, private and public sector organisations have been implementing integrated Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems. However, research findings reflect a fundamental contradiction between what employers want, and what they are prepared to implement and have the knowledge to use. It is, therefore, recommended that management needs to be educated in the application of business software; the technology needs to be well-embedded before initiating further roll-out; a substantive business case for ongoing enhancements needs to be presented; post-implementation vendor service improved; and the software, both in its implementation and application, simplified.
