Beyond Coal; Optimization for Oil & Gas Units

While coal reigns supreme among fossil-fuels for electricity production in North America, there are also substantial numbers of natural gas and oil-fired generating units. On one hand high fuel prices relative to coal can make it more difficult to cost-effectively operate these units; on the other, pressure to increase the capacity factors of these units will likely intensify in order to reduce greenhouse gas
