Boat ramp application overview - Case Study

Natural sand shorelines are not always adequate to support frequent boat loading and unloading. Unstable soil conditions, erosion, and fluctuating water levels combine to make vehicle access to shorelines difficult. The GEOWEB Cellular Confinement System is an ideal solution that provides dependable load support for boat launch areas.

The GEOWEB cellular confinement system was developed jointly by the US Army Corps of Engineers Waterways Experiment Station and Presto Products Company for military road use across sandy beaches. The GEOWEB system is an expandable honeycomb-like structure used to confine unstable soils or gravel. The system supports and inhibits the lateral movement of soil particles and thereby increases the soil’s load bearing capacity and its stability.
