Based on past experience with successful implementations of the software in other refineries, E2 provided key recommendations about appearance, system speed and requirement/task structure that have been implemented over time. Recommendations included standardizing menus and naming conventions, optimizing system performance and the creation of more applicable end-user reports.
Case Study - Valero-Wilmington Refinery
Valero implemented the ESS Essential Suite software package compliance management module corporate wide in 2005/6. E2 's had a contract with the Valero Wilmington Refinery to review the existing ESS instance and a compare it with a revised Title V permit. In 2006 the refinery applied for the Title V and loaded an initial set of tasks into the system based on that application. With the newly issued final Title V permit, it was necessary to update the revised requirements into Valero's Compliance Management tool. E2 's role involved reviewing the Title V permit and modifying existing tasks, adding new tasks and removing tasks that were no longer applicable. From this initial effort, additional module re-implementation activities were identified including restructuring the system configuration to enhance user adoption.
