CERAM - Final Report - Use of Recycled Glass as a Flux in Vitreous China Sanitaryware.GLA2-008

0
Vitreous china sanitaryware is a product manufactured in bulk in the UK (approximately 7,000,000 pieces are produced each year) and this process consumes considerable amounts of raw materials and energy. The project that this report describes, in which recycled bottle glass was used as a major raw material was intended to divert a waste material from normal landfill disposal into use as a valuable raw material, reduce UK industry’s dependence on relatively expensive imported raw materials and offer environmental benefits through lower energy consumption and reduced emissions of carbon dioxide and other pollutants.
