Abstract:

The amounts of trace gases notably CO_2, N_2O and CH_4 have been increasing in the earth's atmosphere. Increased concentration of these gases leads to a warming of the Earth's surface and the lower atmosphere. The resulting changes in climate and their impacts such as sea level rise, coastal ecosystems etc, can be estimated without associating the origin of the warming to any one of these gases specifically. In this paper, an attempt has been made to review the processes involved in climate change and its effects on sea level rise and on the coastal ecosystems.
