ClorTec® Case Study - Ogston, Derbyshire
Severn Trent Water is the world’s fourth largest privately-owned water company with over 8 million customers. The company supplies 1,960MI/day across a region covering more than 21,000 square kilometers.
Historically two electrochlorination systems provided the disinfection requirements for the potable water at a Severn Trent Water site located at Ogston in north Derbyshire. One of the two existing electrochlorination systems required replacement and the decision was taken to invest in a single new electrochlorination plant suitably sized to cater for the whole works chlorination requirements. Severn Trent Services provided two ClorTec CT-900 on site sodium hypochlorite generators. The two CT-900 units are capable of generating sufficient sodium hypochlorite to satisfy the works demand under average conditions in a 7 hour period. This allows the electrochlorination system to take advantage of the off peak electricity tariffs, ensuring the lowest possible operational costs.
A single generator CT-900 generator is capable of producing suffi cient sodium hypochlorite for the whole works at
maximum site requirements. This effective provides a duty/standby arrangement for the works, ensuring process security at all times.
