Organic and Byodinamic products

Because of the production increase, the wastewater treatment plant was submitted to a pollutant charge near to the limit, with negative implication about COD, BOD and suspended solid values, which were dramatically reduced using BioAmp.

Born in 1990 as a specialized farm in organic agriculture, Terre di San Giorgio is today e quality leader in biological tomato sauces. Terre di Sangiorgio bonds the old Mediterranean cooking with a production based on modern technologies, protecting both product quality and consumer health.

All the products used by Terre di Sangiorgio have a biological Certification; the Company owns 200 hectares of land used for the production of organic vegetables

Terre di Sangiorgio is certified UNI EN ISO 9001:2008; since 2009 is also certified BRC (British Retail Consortium - and IFS (International Food Standard)*.

Problem

Because of the production increase, the waste water treatment plant was submitted to a pollutant charge near to the limit, with negative implication about COD, BOD and suspended solid values. The plant drains in surface waters.

Another production increase means relevant investments for strengthening and enlarging the existing waste water treatment plant.

Solution

In collaboration with the internal team, NCH installed in May 2010 one BioAmp in the sauces production department. Since August 2010, despite of the typical picks due to the fresh tomato processing, the value of pollutant shows a big decreasing, with C.O.D. value reduced by 50% and more.

Result

Thanks to the improvement on the plant, Terre di San Giorgio increased the production of 30% as planned, without other investments, saving in this manner more than 50000€
