The compact DEVISE units can effectively treat both domestic sewage and industrial effluents to whatever extent necessary. For typical effluent discharge in the environment according to pertinent legislation, the use of the abovementioned “High-Rate Bio-Plants” is recommended. These systems can readily achieve TSS ≤ 30 mg/L, BOD5 ≤ 25 mg/L, and NH4-N ≤ 2 mg/L. For water reuse applications (e.g. field irrigation, industrial water, toilet flushing, etc), the use of the previously referred “Ultra-Clear Bio-Plants” is suggested. These systems can readily achieve TSS ≤ 3 mg/L, BOD5 ≤ 5 mg/L, NH4-N ≤ 0.5 mg/L, and Total Coliforms ≤ 2 CFU/100mL.
