As a regional industry leader in furniture storage, repair, and delivery, Crown Warehouse generates a large amount of bi-products in their day-to-day operations. Prior to partnering with Harmony, they were disposing of valuable cardboard and other non-recyclable materials in open-top dumpsters. Not only were they losing a potential revenue source by not baling and recycling cardboard, but they were also paying for numerous waste pulls that could be reduced by 75% with a waste compactor. Both of these practices lead to unnecessary expenses, reduced space, and potential hazards.
To help improve the efficiency and reduce costs associated with their waste handling and recycling, they turned to Harmony Enterprises to propose the right solution for their business.
Proposing the Right Solution
As part of Harmony’s Proven Process, National Sales Manager, Nick Roberts, conducted a no-obligation site review at Crown Warehouse. This allowed him to better understand the customer’s needs and wants, taking into consideration available space, types and volumes of commodities to be recycled or compacted, process flow, potential cost and labor savings, and budget.
Using this information, Mr. Roberts was able to select the correct equipment combination from Harmony’s wide range of waste and recycling solutions. In this case, Harmony installed two used pieces of equipment, a M60CB vertical cardboard baler and P6FL front load self-contained compactor.
Crown Warehouse uses the M60CB to create mill-sized bales of cardboard that are transported to a recycling center, creating a source of additional income where there once was an expense. Recyclers tend to prefer 60″ mill-sized bales for their ease of transport and reclamation value.
The P6FL compactor helps the furniture business reduce the volume of waste stored and hauled each month. With its large 27″x 53.5″ charge opening, 6 cubic yard container, and powerful 25,450 lbs. of ram force, their compactor provides an amazing 4:1 compaction ratio.
