DASH Multi-Corp Selects Granutech-Saturn Systems For New Tire Recycling Facility
St. Louis, MO — DASH Multi-Corp, a leading manufacturer of custom formulated plastics, chemicals, coated fabrics and recycled rubber products, has selected Granutech-Saturn Systems to provide equipment and support for its new $13+ million crumb rubber facility in Portland, Oregon. Marvin S. Wool, Chairman of DASH Multi-Corp, said that, although DASH’s two subsidiaries, RB Rubber Products, Inc. and RB Recycling, Inc. have engineering and operational personnel who are experts in crumb rubber production, the decision to choose a highly-respected outside company like Granutech-Saturn was an easy one.
“We were extremely impressed with their turnkey capabilities and their history of past success in working on similar facilities world-wide,” Mr. Wool stated. “We felt that Granutech-Saturn provided DASH with a high level of comfort and confidence unavailable elsewhere. After-sale support and Granutech-Saturn’s long-time commitment to the recycling industry were two other important factors in making our decision.”
Granutech-Saturn will install parallel crumb rubber lines in the 72,000 sq. ft. plant which is expected to begin operations during the first quarter of 2008. The facility, located on a 10-acre site, will replace the whole tire processing facility in Portland as well as the fine grind system currently operating at the RB Rubber plant in McMinnville, OR. By completely eliminating rubber processing at McMinnville, RB Rubber — a pioneer in the “build green” trend in America — will then be able to utilize existing space to ramp up the volumes of its rolled rubber products, high-quality flooring and fitness products, as well as playground tiles, ballistic tiles, roof pads and interlocking tiles for a variety of flooring applications. RB Rubber is also installing an additional $3 million mat manufacturing press that will dramatically increase its production capacity for equestrian and pet matting.
When the new plant comes on line, 3.5 million pounds per month of crumb rubber will be delivered to McMinnville, using newly installed bulk loading, transportation and unloading systems for cost-effectiveness. Ultimately, production of crumb rubber is expected to exceed five million pounds per month.
