PureBlue delivered a decentralised biological water treatment plant to Heerema Porto Amboim in 2010. The package plant was fully assembled in the Netherlands and transported by ship to Angola. The unit purifies the wastewater from toilets, showers and the kitchen. The effluent quality meets European standards. The treated effluent is reused as rinsing water in the toilets. Besides wastewater purification, sludge drying beds have been built that are used by employees to grow papayas and tomatoes. The crops flourish due to the nutrients from the sludge and to being watered with the effluent water. PureBlue provided workers with on-site training on the technical and technological operation of the wastewater treatment plant.
