Matrix: Soil

Analytes: Atrazine and Metolachlor

Range of Detection: Atrazine: 0.5-25.0 ppm, Metolachlor: 0.5-25.0 ppm

Materials:
Rapid Assay Test Kit
SDI BTEX Sample Extraction Kit - Part No. A00165EA
Dilution Vials with Caps – Part Nos. 1048700/1038303
25uL Fixed Volume Pipettor Z00257
Pipet Tips 3000113
Appropriate Sample Diluent

Extraction Procedure:
Follow the SDI Soil Extraction Kit User’s Guide for collecting, storing and weighing the soil sample.
Add 1 ampoule of 75% Methanol (10 mL each) to 5 g of soil in an extraction jar (provided in the SDI Sample Extraction Kit). Note: useful results can be obtained with extractions as short as 5 minutes, depending on the object, time constraints, and cost constraints of the study. Allow the sample to settle for one minute or until a liquid solvent layer is observed. Filter the sample according to the SDI Soil Extraction Kit User’s Guide.

Analysis:
Using the empty vials, dilute the clarified extract 1:50 by adding 25 μL of sample into 1.25 mL of the appropriate Sample Diluent in a dilution vial. Do a second 1:50 dilution by adding 25 μL of the first dilution to 1.25 mL of the 2 appropriate Sample Diluent in a dilution vial. Analyze the diluted extract as the “sample” according to the RaPID Assay User’s Guide.
