Detection of DDT in water

Courtesy of

MATRIX: Water (surface, ground and drinking)

RANGE OF DETECTION: 10 to 500 ppb

MATERIALS: EnviroGard DDT in Soil Test Kit (Item #73100). Methanol (pesticide grade). Glass vials with teflon lines caps.

PROCEDURAL NOTES: Water samples should be collected in glass vessels with teflon cap liners and should be analyzed as soon as possible after collection, to minimize adsorptive losses.

The DDT in Soil Test Kit calibrators may be conveniently used to test for DDT in water. The calibrators supplied with the soil kit are labeled 0.2 ppm, 1.0 ppm and 10 ppm. To use these calibrators in a water assay, 25 mL of each calibrator will be added to 500 mL of distilled water in the assay tubes. This results in a 20X dilution of the calibrators. The final DDT in water calibrator levels therefore are 10 ppb, 50 ppb and 500 ppb.
