Discreet Bird Netting System for London’s Garrick theatre proves effective bird deterrent case study

Eco Environmental were approached to advise the end client on what would be the least visible bird deterrent to prevent pigeons from roosting on the front façade of Garrick Theatre in London once the exterior refurbishment had been completed.

As there were large openings around the ornate balcony the only real option was our Anti Bird Net System, which would provide a barrier across these wide expanses. We specified our special order stone coloured Bird Netting to provide a more discreet system and to blend in with the finished painted render.

In order to provide protection from perching birds along the surrounding ledges and features to this attractive and ornate frontage, we specified our discreet Bird Wire. This was installed along the ledges such as capitals, cornices, balustrades and pilasters.

Apart from it being almost unnoticeable from the ground level, the added benefit of specifying our Bird Wire system is the fact that it will not collect falling leaves, as is often the case with the Birdpoint Bird Spikes. With the nearby established deciduous trees, falling leaves are an annual occurrence and the nearby buildings that had incorrectly specified bird spikes installed, collected this vegetation in large numbers each season giving the appearance that the building was more neglected and unkept.

We can provide a free survey and bird control report not only highlighting the type of bird problem on your building but providing a bespoke bird deterrent solution that will be in keeping with the building’s aesthetics and take account of the surrounding factors and influences.
