Effect of accelerators and stabilisers on crystallinity of binary and ternary electroless nickel alloys
Autocatalytic binary and ternary Ni-P, Ni-W-P alloys films were prepared using alkaline citrate-based baths. The effect of succinic acid and thiourea on the formation characteristics was investigated. The addition of these additives caused a change in phosphorus and tungsten contents of the deposits. The coating thicknesses were determined by using scanning electron microscope and the compositions were measured using an energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX). XRD results revealed that the addition of succinic acid and thiourea to Ni-P alloy decrease the crystal size from nanocrystalline to amorphous and vice versa with Ni-W-P alloy.
