This article deals with a method based on vibration data measured on electronic systems to detect, identify and localise defects generated in these systems, in order to improve their reliability. The diagnosis procedure is based on the combination of wavelet transforms and neural networks; this procedure is applied to a simplified printed circuit board.
LTM-2 Probes Provide Consistent Sump Level Measurement Resulting in Better Cyclone Performance
Mill’s have shown a significant interest in using LTM-2 probes for measuring secondary mill sump pulp levels due to their accuracy, fast response and not being affected by froth-foam or subject to erroneous signal bouncebacks. In fact over the last year the bulk of Zeroday’s probe sales have been in ferrous and base metal mill pebble and ball milling sump applications. Uniformly the experience has been that where LTM-2 probes have been installed, much more consistent level control has been obtained...
Dedicated geostatistics based library for reliable dose rate mapping in a mouse click
ISYmap is a French start-up that launched GLOBall (GeoLOcalized Ball) early 2016, a revolutionary system allowing remoted and fast dose rate measurement and mapping, easy and quick to set up by operators staying far from hazard area in safe conditions. ISYmap has integrated QuickMap, a dedicated geostatistics-based library developed by Geovariances for a reliable mapping process. The challenge The GLOBall system consists in a set of autonomous and connected balls embedding sensors that can be dropped over...
Case study - Buoy-based temperature profiling in the Bavarian Lakes
In summertime a temperature stratification occurs in deep lakes – the surface water is warm, but deep down the water is cold. This has considerable influence on the nutrient balance and the biological habitat in these lakes. Due to generally higher air temperatures induced by the climate change, both change and have effects on the life conditions of the ecosystems in the lakes.Researchers use OTT buoys and the OTT net DL datalogger to study the long term effects of climate change on the Bavaraian lakes. Back...
Case study - Precipitation measurement in East Tyrolia high mountains
The Defereggen Valley`s remote location is in the middle of the East Tyrolean high mountain valleys in the Alps. Due to the remote location, extreme weather conditions, and lack of infrastructure, it had not been possible to install an official precipitation measurement station in the Defereggen Valley, yet. It was a "white spot" on the map, from a meteorological point of view.Today, precipitation data, air temperature, humidity and snow height are monitored and radio transmitted to the Tyrolean regional government...
Flow Rate Measurement in Full Pipes Using the Transit Time Method
Particularly in large diameters the relevance of water volume measurement is growing. The challenge with cooling water or fresh water processes is to generate accurate flow recordings or to document and to control individual consumptions and withdrawal quantities. Flow detection, however, particularly in large diameters is highly demanding. In such cases the transit time measurement thanks to its high flexibility as a reliable and cost-efficient measurement system is literally made for permanent flow metering. Sec...
