Enhanced UV Disinfection by Ozone/Peroxide a Study in Tampa, Florida
The focus of this presentation is the use of oxidant(s) to enhance ultraviolet (UV) disinfection based on an ongoing project at Tampa’s Howard F. Curren Advanced Wastewater Treatment Plant (HFCAWTP). This approach is unique because it would be the first of its kind in Florida. Systemic bench-scale testing and on-site water quality measurements are used to evaluate the oxidant-enhanced UV disinfection effects and to further assess whether such a method is costeffective. Experimental results and life-cycle cost analyses will be presented to show how this approach compares to conventional UV disinfection.
