Fabric Cover Puts Lid on Odor Emission Problems

The Escambia County Utilities Authority (ECUA) of Pensacola, Fla., was experiencing odor emission problems at its 20 mgd Main Street Wastewater Treatment Plant, which is only two blocks from Pensacola city hall and the regional office of the Florida Department of Environmental Protection.

According to Stephen Holcomb, P.E., Water Reclamation Director at ECUA, an 85 foot diameter gravity thickener was the primary odor source.
