Florida-based AECOM Technical Services implements an automated groundwater monitoring network with HydroVu™ to help the City of Miami Beach address sea level rise.
Consulting firms conducting long-term groundwater monitoring can encounter costly inefficiencies and extended periods of liability. So, when AECOM contracted with the City of Miami Beach to help them better understand the city’s underground hydrology in the face of sea level rise caused by climate change, they looked for a data management solution that would replace manual data collection, time-consuming data manipulation and cumbersome spreadsheets.
Seeking an innovative approach, AECOM partnered with In-Situ to implement telemetry and HydroVu cloud-based data management services to streamline data collection and improve access to their data. AECOM Project Manager Michael Bennet says the automated solution was a significant benefit to his client.
“When we saw HydroVu, we realized it was a great tool,” says Bennett. “We could eliminate the manual download of data loggers and instead, give our client a better way to access their data in near real-time.”
With the implementation of HydroVu, the city got a long-term, reliable data management solution to help them better understand and manage chronic tidal elevations, and AECOM improved efficiency, reduced their liability and earned their client’s trust.
