Why did GeoPost decide to use Tennaxia Sustainability Reporting ?
Daphné De Kermoal : « Before issuing our Request For Proposals, the Sustainable Development Department was collecting environmental data using Excel files. As a collection method it was no longer sufficient to meet our needs: it did not guarantee the reliability of our data, nor provide regular monitoring of our business units’ environmental action plans and Carbon Neutral – Total Zero approach.
We wanted our Sustainability reporting system to monitor indicators that help our Business Units manage their environmental management policy (ISO 14001), visually represent our consolidated data, and enable Business Units to share information, presentations and reports with their respective departments.
As Sustainability Manager, my major need was to establish our annual Sustainability report, which compiles the environmental data from all our Business Units’ activities. It was also important for us to conduct regular auditable carbon inventories to ensure our approach complied with our total compensation goals. Tennaxia Sustainability Reporting responded to those needs in every respect. »
What key points enabled this project’s success ?
Daphné De Kermoal : « Given GeoPost’s decentralized structure, Tennaxia Sustainability Reporting allowed us to harmonize our procedures and collect comparable information throughout our consolidation perimeter. This project was not easy to conduct but Tennaxia’s business expertise really enabled us to smoothly move project implementation forward, and meet deadlines: they are above all sustainability experts who can provide solutions that address business needs – it is not up to the client to adapt to a tool. The combination of thoughtful Sustainability consultancy and IT expertise helped our Group get the results we wanted, especially in terms of managing our multicultural organization, which involved a degree of complexity in implementing the reporting project. We were especially pleased that the satisfaction survey we conducted among contributors and validators showed they also really liked the intuitive and user-friendly aspects of the software.
This successful collaborative project with Tennaxia created trust between our teams. All our requests were listened to and we were given systematic feedback about technical feasibility. Tennaxia does not engage in unnecessary developments, and is able to provide tangible and relevant arguments to explain its methods. »
How did your organization benefits from this project ?
Daphné De Kermoal : « Tennaxia Sustainability Reporting has enabled our Business Units to collect finer-grained data and enabled us to provide them with more options in terms of data collections. For example they could choose to collect required indicators for each site, or directly in consolidated form. The ease of use and quick training (about 1½ hours), added real value in terms of time saving on data input and analysis.
Today, the collection of indicators and calculation of CO2 emissions applies to approximately 95% of our Business Units internationally. The next step will be to geographically develop the environmental reporting software to those Business Units that were not previously included in our Total Zero approach.
Tennaxia Sustainability Reporting has also enabled us to meet the consolidation needs of our parent company, La Poste, which uses a different Sustainability reporting system. We were able to retrieve our data and very quickly transmit it to our parent company.
From the point of view of the approach, we have to say that managing our environmental information via Tennaxia Sustainability Reporting makes our desire for transparency clearer to third parties, auditors, etc. and more generally to our stakeholders. We have improved our compliance with the six ISAE 30001 criteria (completeness, consistency, relevance, reliability, neutrality, understandability) governing the non-financial reporting audit. We now know and are able to communicate our data coverage rate and disseminate more information than in the past. In addition, for our second reporting year, our Business Units were able to adjust data collection frequency, which changed from annual to quarterly.
