Geotechnical Geophysics: Seismic refraction and refraction microtremor (ReMi) surveys

ReMi Surveys are superior to MASW Surveys in the following ways:

  • Ambient (ie, traffic and aircraft) “noise” is a hindrance to MASW surveys, yet is readily embraced / utilized by “passive” ReMi surveys
  • Longer ReMi data records (ie, 30 seconds vs 8 seconds or less with MASW) capture lower frequency events
  • We introduce high frequency impulsive energy that augments low frequency data to obtain excellent bandwidth
  • Accurate Dispersion Curves and Velocity-Depth displays

Utilizing state-of-the-art data processing technology and field equipment, ECA's geophysicists accurately determine:

  • Depth to bedrock
  • Bedrock rippability
  • Shear wave (Vs) / Compressional wave (Vp) information for foundation design
  • NEHRP / IBC site classifications
