Globalisation, international transport and the global environment: a Dutch perspective
This paper aims to provide a survey of the intricate relationships between globalisation trends, international transport and global environmental change, against the background of the open Dutch economy. Based on a systematic typology of globalisation factors proposed by the OECD, the paper attempts to assess the force field involved and its implications for environmental indicators (in particular, CO2). A comprehensive statistical sectoral analysis of the Dutch economy is carried out in order to estimate the time trajectories of CO2 emissions.
