Integrating environmental considerations into land planning and development process for sustainable development in Malaysia
Land development activities are undeniably one of the major causes of environmental pollution. However with proper environmental protection measures, environmental pollution and degradation can be greatly reduced. Many are of the opinion that these two processes, land development and environmental protection should be integrated into the land development process as both land development and environmental processes have a common goal that is to promote and enhance human habitation and the living environment. This article seeks to examine the existing legal, regulatory and institutional framework in Malaysia and its role in facilitating the integration of environmental considerations in land development and to promote sustainable development.
