Integration & Joint Interpretation of Passive Seismic Tomography, Gravity and MT Data

The scope of this project was an integrated interpretation of the Passive Seismic Tomography, Gravity and Magnetotelluric data, acquired in the Delvina Gas field area in the context of the according geophysical surveys.

Although the Delvina Gas field has a marginal production, the only knowledge for the productive structure came from surface geology and existing well data in the area. The seismic lines that cover the area of interest are of very poor quality, providing a relatively limited amount of information.

Two Passive Seismic Tomography (PST) projects were the first attempts to gather information on the block of interest (Phase I: September 2007 and Phase II: March 2011). The results of the first phase added some valuable structural (3D P-wave velocity model) and lithological (3D Vp/Vs model) information concerning the subsurface conditions prevailing the area of interest. The challenge of the second phase of the PST survey was to refine this information, exploiting the totality of available data (Phase I & Phase II). The second phase PST data provided refined structural and lithological models of the subsurface, localized within the limits of the Delvina Block, covering both the development and the production area.

In November 2012, SeismoTech Geophysical Solutions was awarded a Gravity and Magnetotelluric survey in the Delvina Area. The scope of this project was to enrich with additional geophysical information the Delvina Gas field area, in order to conclude on optimum locations for well-drilling.

The Delvina Gravity and Magnetotelluric Survey is part of a long-term integrated geophysical project (Passive Seismic Tomography, Gravity and Magnetotelluric surveys) that aims in deciphering the location and extent of the Delvina reservoir, as well as the possibility of the existence of other neighboring productive structures.
