Polymer melt filter is essential for all the polymer handling process, as there are plenty of impurities in the polymer melt which can significantly affect the polymer product quality and even ruin the process like extrusion, molding injection or fiber / filament spinning.
The polymer melt filter is often made from stainless steel wire mesh or sintered metal fiber. Because these metal filter material can withstand high pressure caused by viscosity of the polymer melt and can be cleaned and reused after washing and cleaning. The cleaning process of the polymer melt filter may be abrasive cleaning, chemical solvent cleaning, burning / heating.
Micron rating of the filter element varies depending on the application. We can supply wire mesh filter screen pack with millimeter pore size for plastic recycling, while we can also produce stainless steel sintered metal fiber pleated filter cartridge with 3 micron absolute rating for fiber and film.
Screen changer for polymer extruder uses wire mesh screen as the filter element. The mesh screen can be single layer, multi-layer spot-welded, or even sintered wire mesh.
Pleated metal filter for filter candle screen changer
Filter candle screen changer uses dozens of pleated wire mesh filter cartridge / sintered metal fiber filter cartridge to increase the filtration area, reduce the differential pressure and extend the service life.
The screen changer is often a piston type. That is why the filter candles may have same diameter but in various length.
Large area polymer filter system is designed for large volume, high efficiency and accuracy applications. These systems are often made of two filter vessel, which can interchange and keep the system continuously working.
The large area filter element is often pleated wire mesh filter cartridge for normal contamination. Sintered metal fiber filter cartridge will be used for in-depth filtration of gels and other impurities.
Pleated metal filter cartridge can be in form of assembly type, which composes of replaceable filter media body and the removable hardware: connector, inner support and end fitting. They are featured with easy dismantling for cleaning and replacement, leading to lower purchasing and operating costs.
