Description: Tailings water from an abandoned gold mine was contaminated with Cyanide, Ammonia, Arsenic, Copper, Lead, Nickel and Zinc. Treatment evaluation involved addition of coagulants and flocculants to precipitate Cyanide, Ammonia and metals out of solution. Chemical treatment was followed by precipitate stability testing. This was performed both in the prescence of oxygen and without the prescence of oxygen at pH 6, 8, 10, and 11. he objectieve was to determine if Cyanide, Ammonia and metals resolubilities over time. The findings of the study were to be used to treat the mine tailing water on site.
