Client: Food Manufacturer

Location: South-Wales, UK

Services: Contaminated Land Site Investigation, Due Dilligence, Rapid Site Investigation.

Summary: A food manufacturer wished to sell a drink packaging operation, and needed an environmental investigation to support the marketing of a site. ESI initiated our Rapid Phase II site investigation procedure, and were able to report on the land quality status of the site within 7 days of instruction.

ESI has recently introduced the Rapid Site Investigations (Rapid SIs) service which is tailored to meet the needs of our clients that operate in the Financial and Property sectors (e.g. Environmental Due Diligence and Environmental Auditing).

The Rapid SI service was used to provide a baseline assessment of land quality at a drink packaging facility in South Wales. The information was needed to form part of the documentation required to support the marketing of the intended sale of the site.

A site investigation was carried out by ESI during June 2009. This involved collection and analysis of soil and groundwater samples from eleven targeted locations across the site. The locations were selected based on an initial understanding of the site obtained through the study of the local geology and hydrogeology. The potential for contamination due to the former and current site uses was also considered during the selection of the locations.

The information collected during the site investigation was collated into a report detailing the baseline land quality condition for the site. The success of this new service was demonstrated by the timely delivery of the final report which was issued after only 7 days from receiving the formal instruction from the client.
