The dairy manufactures butter for a wide range of private label customers. As recently as 18 months before a final solution was obtained from WWW, the dairy firm was in compliance and little noticed by the local PUD. As wastewater scrutiny increased, particularly due to Fats, Oils and Greases (FOG), a search for solutions began. The dairy hired a number of engineers and tried various “systems”. All failed to resolve the matter. Ultimately the city informed the dairy they would have to cease discharge to the local sewer system within weeks if the problem was not corrected.
