Client: Manchester Airport, Manchester - Costain/GPL
GPL and Costain were responsible for the overhaul of the old runway at Manchester Airport including apron and apron maintenance, replacing Juliet, Alpha and Delta taxiways; twelve new stands on the Western apron; and extensions for the A380.

The original runway had been in service for many years and was in urgent need of a renewal. CSG worked with the Designers, Engineers, Airport Authority and Contractors in designing a specialist range of products bespoke to this project.

The customer benefited from control through a single point of responsibility, cost savings through value engineering, improvements to the project programme, and an integrated approach between designer and contractor that minimised inconvenience to the travelling public.
