Landia (UK) Ltd. was awarded the contract to provide the SBR tanks at the Ringsend WWTW with 74 submersible mixers. The project is the largest wastewater treatment contract in the history of the Irish State. The mixers were installed to homogenise the activated sludge in the secondary treatment of the wastewater during the phase of BOD/COD removal and partial nitrification.

During this stage a gentle treatment of the effluent is important in order to optimise the biological process. Landia’s mixers with a propeller revolution of 150 rpm equipped with large surface propeller blades are ideally suited for the gentle treatment of activated sludge.

Landia introduced the 150 rpm mixers on the market more than 20 years ago when retrofitting of wastewater treatments plants with nutrient removal processes was introduced in Denmark. Since then hundreds of plants world-wide have been equipped with this type of mixer proving their reliability.

At the same plant 24 Landia wall pumps for recirculation of activated sludge have been installed, totalling the number of Landia units at this plant to 98.

The plant has been in operation since 2003.
