US-based Mobil began operations in Europe in 1980with the opening of their first Orientated Polypropylene (OPP) production line at the Virton Latour site in Belgium. Since then, it has grown to become a leading producer of OPP films, with further plants opened in Brindisi, Italy and Kerkrade, The Netherlands. With the demand for plastics far exceeding the level of worldwide production, Mobil wants to continue to service the growing needs of the European market. At Mobil's major European production facility in Virton,condition-based predictive maintenance is making it possible to plan its production and maintenance activities around one plant shutdown per year.
