Thus climatic environment of each country does not allow such a convenient switch to renewable sources. Large scale solar set ups on national levels require huge land areas which can be used for other purposes. Such centers of energy production usually lead to destruction of habitat as well as vegetation. Another pollution causing aspect of solar power is that the photovoltaic cells used for electricity production contain silicon as the integral component along with mercury, cadmium and other toxic substances which may harm the environment in the long run.
Despite the negatives mentioned above, the benefits of utilizing renewable energy far outweigh the disadvantages. Therefore, a vital point to remember is that the best solution to our current energy issues is to operate on the perfect blend of all power sources i.e. partially renewable is much better than entirely non renewable and vice versa.
