Site Summary

Leaking gasoline pipelines caused the groundwater to become contaminated with TPHg at concentrations exceeding 6,000 ug/L. Because the site was located in a busy, high traffic area (in the vicinity of Portland International Airport), the consultants made it a priority to find a less obtrusive and “invisible” remediation system to replace the pump and treat and SVE systems already in place. A field pilot study was decided upon to determine the effectiveness of ORC in
treating the on-site petroleum hydrocarbon contamination. After a more detailed site characterization, a second ORC application took place approximately one year later.
