Over 84,000 linear feet of low pressure sewer installation on private and public property – what was learned from the largest low pressure sewer project in New England
The Town of Marion, Massachusetts, undertook its 455-home Sewer Expansion Project using low-pressure sewers, making it the largest low-pressure sewer project in New England. Marion is a coastal community that suffers from high groundwater and variable terrain. This coastal resort community has many homes that once were just vacation homes now turned year round residences, being such the homes are fairly close together resulting in limited availability of land. This paper explores how the Town chose low pressure sewers as the best alternative methodology for design, installation and operations and maintenance. The resultant decision was to install low-pressure sewers that would prove beneficial to both the homeowner and the Town of Marion.
