In this work, we present a synthesis methodology of a multivariable fuzzy controller for the control of a multi-motor system (MMS) that can be intended for winding and unwinding controlled transport processes. The simulation results show that the integration of the fuzzy multivariable controller brought good performances compared to the multivariable PI-structure controller, and a clear improvement at the level of control and synchronism performances between velocities of the MMS motors compared to the fuzzy mono-variable controller. This shows that the integration of the proposed controller can increase the line production.

New test, new best practice to reduce hearing damage risk
The availability of this new test will have a dramatic effect on the management of hearing loss prevention programmes… New technology has become available that provides companies with data that they can use to checkthe real worldperformance of their hearing conservation programmes very quickly and very easily. It is a development of otoacoustic emission (OAE) screening technology that, unlike conventional audiometry, can be used to detect the very early stages of damage to the outer hair cells in the...
Speaking the language of risk: climate change and the future of business
In an increasingly carbon-constrained economy, it is clear that an organization’s environmental, social and financial performance is dependent on climate action. The development of a thorough and goal-oriented sustainability program, one that integrates climate change impacts into risk management and takes into account the key role of private and public stakeholders, is critical to successful planning. At our Greener Horizons event in Vancouver, moderated by Nancy Wright of GLOBE Series, Bullfrog Power...
A new methodology for surcharge risk management in urban areas (case study: Gonbad-e-Kavus city)
This research presents a simulation-optimization model for urban flood mitigation integrating Non-dominated Sorting Genetic Algorithm (NSGA-II) with Storm Water Management Model (SWMM) hydraulic model under a curve number-based hydrologic model of low impact development technologies in Gonbad-e-Kavus, a small city in the north of Iran. In the developed model, the best performance of the system relies on the optimal layout and capacity of retention ponds over the study area in order to reduce surcharge from the...
Are young people leaving themselves at risk of flooding?
According torecent figuresfrom theEnvironmental Agency, young people in the UK may be leaving themselves at risk of flood damage. Around 75% of 18-24 year olds are not aware if they are living in an area at risk of flooding in the last year. Why is this so much of a problem and what can people do to find out how at risk their property is? With the number of properties in the UK at risk of flooding being so high (1 in 6 properties), concerns are being flagged that young people are leaving themselves at risk of...
Risk as synonymous with uncertainty?
We’re dealing with countless risks in our daily life, like getting cut during apple slicing, or catching cold if we get wet on a rainy day…or planning a project without a proper risk management plan… Unknowingly you are doing Risk assessment in everyday life! Take a rain (hazard) for instance… Before you leave home in the morning you turn on the news to determine if rain is likely or not. This is uncertainty. What are the chances that it will rain that day (likelihood), where (location)...
