electrode and poly(N–methyl 4–vinylpyridine iodide): ionic liquid solid polymer electrolyte for device application

The aim of this work is to synthesise a porous nanocrystalline TiO2 electrode and a new kind of solid polymer electrolyte poly(N–methyl 4–vinylpyridine iodide) (PVPI) doped with an Ionic Liquid (IL) 1–ethyl 3–methylimidazolium thiocyanate (EMImSCN) for Dye–Sensitised Solar Cell (DSSC) application. The fabrication process of nanoporous TiO2 electrode as well as electrical, structural and photoelectrochemical properties of polymer electrolytes have been examined using various experimental tools. A novel DSSC has also been fabricated, which shows overall efficiency of 0.76% at 1 sun condition.
