Project Forssa wastewater treatment plant Finland - Case Study
Client: Forssa waterworks
Location: Forssa, Finland
Period: 2014 - 2016
As the general water and wastewater treatment plant of the city, the main job of the plant is to produce water and wastewater treatment services in competitive manner, while taking into account also the investments of the future. Forssa waterworks takes care of the drinking water of 16 000 inhabitants and the wastewater of 18 000 inhabitants.
Forssa wastewater treatment plant has been built in 1974. Forssa’s wastewater treatment plant had challenges in responding to the required threshold values before. Since, the plant was outdated, and the industrial activities of the area burdened the plant. Working wastewater treatment plant is crucial to Forssa, because the treated wastewater is discharged to Loimijoki. Treated water does not pollute the environment. For instance, efficient phosphorus removal is priceless, since phosphorus can promote eutrophication and loss of oxygen in water bodies.
Econet Ltd is acted as a leader partner in Joint Venture ”Econet - Rakennus Timo Pekka”. The scope of the turnkey contract included process design, construction of a new aeration basin, a flotation building and a control room, design of equipment and machinery, supply and installation of process equipment and piping, electrification, instrumentation, and HVAC works.
At the moment, the treatment results of Forssa’s wastewater treatment plant are much less than the threshold values. Reliable and efficient production process increases the customer`s competitiveness. High quality and client’s needs satisfying results were ensured through close collaboration between the Forssa wastewater treatment plant and Econet during the project.
