Quantification of Ultra Low Sulfur in Diesel by Xray Fluorescence

ASTM International has developed a number of testing methods for determination of sulfur content that focus on a variety of analyzer technologies but ASTM Method D4294 is the one that focuses on the use of energy dispersive x-ray fluorescence (EDXRF); which offers a relatively low cost analysis method that achieves fast results with limited sample preparation.  The applicable sulfur concentration range of the ASTM Method is 17 ppm to 4.6 mass% and Xenemetrix has developed two analyzers (X-Calibur and S-Mobile) to meet,often exceeding, the requirements.

This application brief highlights the effectiveness of Xenemetrix systems to exceed the testing requirements relating to ASTM D4294.
