Fluorine compounds possess a wide range of properties, including flame retardance, water repellency, anti-fouling property, and heat resistance, and are therefore used in a wide range of fields from articles for everyday use to semiconductors. However, since the 1980s, the problems of global warming and ozone depletion in addition to the potential for bioaccumulation have led to strengthened legislation and self-regulation. In response to these environmental problems and associated safety concerns, many of today's companies are beginning to use CFC substitutes and develop and promote products for reducing the adverse effects of anti-perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA). Here we introduce two examples of analysis of these products and test specimens using the EDX-800HS Energy Dispersive X-ray Fluorescence Spectrometer.
Cement analysis using FP program (Fundamental Parameters)
Cement is a blend of several minerals. It is critical to control the elemental composition and properties such as strength, setting, time and color. ED-XRF is being used to analyze the raw components, raw meal, clinker, and the final cement product (Na, Mg, Al, Si, S, K, Ca, and Fe in Cement, Clinker, and Raw Meal).XRF is at the heart of the control of the production process in any modern cement works and is central to the ability of the cement maker...
Abstract
Quantitative and qualitative analysis of geological samples (rocks and river sediments) was performed on Xenemetrix EDXRF Benchtop Spectrometer System, model X-Calibur
Objective:
Perform XRF measurements on certified geological reference materials to build calibration curves for the major oxides (Na2O, MgO, SiO2, Al2O3, SiO2, P2O5, SO3, K2O, CaO, TiO2, MnO and Fe2O3) and for trace elements Cr, Co, Ni and Pb in these samples.
Quantify geological samples of unknown concentrations with respect to...
Goal:To analyze all elements present in PVC and PMMA polymer layers with special attention to Pb, Zn, Ca, and Sn. Instrument:Xenemetrix made X-Calibur EDXRF analyzer with High resolution Silicon Drift Diode Detectors (SDD).
The “Shipping, Marine and Ports World” has published in its Dec 2012-Jan 2013 issue, an article written by Dr. Helene Gutman (CTO, Xenemetrix Ltd.). The article presents: The use of EDXRF analytical method systems that enable fleet management to optimize bunkering and machine maintenance. The new sulfur emission regulations for ocean going vessels present a serious challenge for the maritime industry. Lower sulfur content in the fuel oil causes increased machine wear. Therefore exact and frequent...
The P-Metrix is wrapped in a portable case that acts as a self-contained EDXRF laboratory and allows you to roll it to any site for your elemental analysis test.P-Metrix, bridging new frontiers in lab-to-field analysis, will be presented at the 2017 ACS Spring Meeting, at San Francisco, April 2nd - 4th, booth # 1706.The analytical and industrial instrumentation from Xenemetrix range from portable field or at-line instrumentation, benchtop units ranging in performance, up to floor standing advanced capability...
