atg UV Technology, pioneers in the design and engineering of Ultraviolet treatment systems have supplied Rand Water, South Africa's largest supplier of potable water to the Gauteng area with a state-of-the-art compact, closed chamber, Ultraviolet disinfection system for the treatment of potable drinking water.

atg UV's water treatment package consisted of one, six lamp Eco-line medium pressure chamber that was sized specifically for Rand Water, who have adopted UV treatment into their disinfection policy.

atg UV's closed system design is perfectly suited for potable water applications, which typically has a large flow. The UV disinfection Eco-line system installed at Rand Waters Zuurbekom pumping station is capable of treating up to 800 m3/hr of potable drinking water. Additionally UV will provide protection against chemically resistent micro-organisms such as Cryptosporidium without the use of additional chemicals, vastly improving the quality of the water.

The Eco-line system features automatic wipers to prevent the build-up of deposits on the quartz tube, and UV monitoring to ensure the system consistently runs at an optimum level. An integrated state-of-the-art atg UV SPECTRA control system provides Rand Water engineers with data on flow, UV dose and lamp intensity, whilst the SPECTRA's built in data logger provides performance data which can be easily downloaded to a PC or Laptop for review.
