The dissolved and colloidal material (DCM) introduced with the coated recovered paper in the paper recycling process cannot be removed by conventional processes. Due to their destabilisation, it is responsible for deposits (white pitch) on papermachine or induces spots and holes in the final product. In order to study the tendency for the deposit formation, different formulations of coatings and different conditions have been studied. The depositability study has been carried out with a new deposition rotor. The influence of the coating formulation, the coated paper ratio, the type of destabilisation additive, the dosage of destabilisation additive and the medium characteristics on depositability of DCM from coated papers are presented.
