The task

AEA Energy & Environment* was commissioned by Defra and the Department of Trade & Industry (DTI) to conduct a study on the costs of reducing PM10 and NO2 emissions and concentrations in the UK.

How we helped

The study principally involved the development of cost

‘curves’ and included:

• Estimating emissions from all major sources now and

into the future.

• Identifying emission reduction measures and their

• Ranking measures in terms of cost-effectiveness for

emission reductions.

• Developing these curves for different years into the

future, with particular interest for 2010.
