Remediate former service station - Case Study
ERC was hired as the General Contractor for this project to remediate the former service station. Gasoline underground storage tanks (USTs) were previously removed however historical releases had contaminated both soil and groundwater at the site. The remedial activities for this project included excavation and off-site disposal of petroleum contaminated soils, as well as the addition of oxygen-releasing amendments to the exposed groundwater to stimulate microbial growth and enhance contaminant degradation. Over 7,500 tons of impacted soil was excavated and hauled off-site to a Subtitled D facility for disposal. During the project, ERC encountered an additional unknown UST which was also disposed of. The site was restored by the placement of topsoil, seeding & mulching.
