One of the main problems for seawater reverse osmosis desalination is membrane fouling associated with natural organic matter. Bisphenol-A (BPA) and 17α-ethinylestradiol (EE2) are well-known endocrine-disrupting compounds that have been detected in wastewater and seawater.
