Removal of Organics and Nutrients from the Combined Sewage in Shanghai Using Coagulation-Flocculation Process

0
Organics and nutrients removal by coagulation-flocculation process using polyaluminiumferric chloride and its aids, applied to a combined sewage in Shanghai, were studied. Cationic polyacrylamide (PAM), polyvinyl alcohol (PVA), a new type of polyelectrolyte (AN) and activated silica (AS) were used as coagulant aids. Performances were measured under optimum conditions for the polyaluminium-ferric chloride and coagulation aids used. The coagulation-flocculation process using polyaluminium-ferric chloride reduced the content of total phosphorus(TP)、orthophosphate(PO4
3--P)、suspended solid(SS) and chemical oxygen demand(COD) effectively. The jar test results confirmed that coagulation-flocculation process was feasible for the treatment of combined sewage in Shanghai.
