Resolving claims for microtunneling - a case history of the Arlington cemetery stormwater outfall tunnel

This paper provide case history details of a microtunnel constructed at Arlington Cemetery to transfer stormwater associated with expansion of the Cemetery to the Boundary Channel, a tributary of the Potomac River. The project design, construction methodology, geotechnical instrumentation, problems encountered during construction, and the resolution of differing site conditions (DSC) without the need for costly litigation are discussed.
