Envantage have worked with McBride on all of their United Kingdom manufacturing sites. Energy Action Plans produced as part of The Carbon Trust fully funded Initial Opportunities Assessment identified a 21% reduction in energy consumption and a 22% reduction in energy cost, worth approximately £325,000 per annum.

About Client

McBride is Europe’s leading supplier of private label household cleaning and personal care products. They operate 15 manufacturing sites in six countries. Over 90% of the top 30 European Retailers use McBride to manufacture some of their own label products. 

Their Opportunity

Historically Robert McBride had relied on effective contract negotiation to deliver reductions in energy. The sites had few systems in place to deliver effective energy management and had rarely undertaken site energy audits. Faced with sharp increases in its energy costs Robert McBride approached The Carbon Trust.

Our Solution

Envantage have assisted Robert McBride in implementing the Initial Energy Action Plan. A fully automated monitoring and targeting system is being trialed in the group. A bespoke energy awareness training package has been prepared for use during their staff induction training. Variable speed drives have been installed on water pumps, air handling units, extrusion blow moulding lines and air compressors. With the assistance of Envantage McBride are implementing a similar energy efficiency programme throughout continental Europe.
