The Sante Fe Railroad intermodal facility in Houston, Texas was plagued by rutting, mud seepage and loss of grade despite repeated overlays with granular material. Loads from yard tractors, forklifts and container handling equipment overstressed the underlying native clay soil. Even loads imposed by parked semi trailer and container chassis caused excessive differential settlement and surface drainage problems.
The Geoweb® cellular confinement system solves problems such as this by creating a load-supporting, load-distributing structure with high flexural strength and stiffness. The Geoweb system also accommodates subgrade movement without loss of structural integrity.
