Solaria Energía y Medio Ambiente (Solaria Energy and Environment) is a Spanish based company founded in 2002 and is the first solar company listed on the Spanish Stock Exchange. Solaria designs, manufactures, supplies and installs photovoltaic and thermal solutions. Its rapid expansion and technological innovation have helped the company become one of the leading companies in the renewable energies sector.

In 2004, Solaria ramped to production with a 10MW solar module production line, which expanded their business outside of the solar thermal market.

It was known at this time that in order to achieve a high level of scale, they would have to ramp to 100MW in the next few years and expand to add a cell production line as well. Knowing this, it gave Spire the opportunity to prove their state-of-the-art technology and expand their production lines further into a country whose PV industry was rapidly expanding.

Over the next few years, Solaria continuously expanded their PV manufacturing. First, to ads a 25MW silicon cell manufacturing line and continuously expanding upon their original 10MW line that has now been expanded up to 180MW per year PV module manufacturing line. In January 2009, Spire announced its 6th contract from Solaria to provide module manufacturing equipment – including assembly machines, laminators and a module simulator – for Solaria Energia’s new facility located in Fuenmayor, Spain to produce 100MW of PV modules per year.

Mr. Dario Lopez, Deputy General Manager of Solaria Energia, says, “This contract represents an important milestone in our expansion process and it is also an expression of our commitment and confidence in a supplier, as Spire Corporation. Solaria Energia today is one of the biggest module manufacturers in Spain and with this agreement we will be able to strengthen our position not only in Spain but also in global markets.”
